Tottenham Hotspur is in the final stages of negotiations to transfer Emerson Royal to AC Milan. Both clubs are currently ironing out the last details of the agreement.
According to Milan News, the deal between Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan for Emerson Royal is nearing completion. The clubs have resumed discussions and are now focused on the final fee details. Personal terms with the player have already been agreed upon, indicating that Milan is close to securing their desired target.
Emerson Royal has been a prime target for AC Milan this summer. The right-back fits well into Paulo Fonseca’s plans for the team. Initial talks between the clubs suggested a quick agreement, but the process has extended longer than anticipated. Despite Tottenham reducing their asking price, negotiations initially stalled due to the gap between Tottenham’s demands and Milan’s offer for the 25-year-old defender. Tottenham had set their asking price at over €20 million, which Milan was reluctant to meet.
Emerson Royal has been eager to join Milan since the club showed interest. Despite playing multiple defensive roles under Tottenham’s manager Ange Postecoglou last season due to an injury crisis, Emerson’s future at Tottenham appeared uncertain. Tottenham is now prepared to sell him and seek a replacement.
Negotiations have progressed significantly, and Tottenham is close to finalizing the sale of Emerson. The reported final fee is around €14 million, with an additional €2 million in potential add-ons, totaling €16 million. It seems that Milan has successfully negotiated a lower fee than Tottenham’s initial demand.
Finding Emerson’s Replacement
Tottenham is now in search of a new right-back to compete with their first-choice, Pedro Porro. Monaco’s Vanderson was initially considered, but his high asking price and other demands could pose a challenge for Tottenham. As soon as Emerson’s transfer is confirmed, Tottenham is expected to intensify their search for a competitive replacement who can vie for a spot in Postecoglou’s starting lineup.
