Set to be played in the winter, the league promises the highest average salary in the history of professional women’s sports. Reese’s rookie contract with the Sky is worth $324,383 over four years, making the additional income from Unrivaled a significant boost.
Reese has made a strong impression in her debut season, setting a record for double-doubles and leading the WNBA in rebounding. She is averaging 13.5 points and 12 rebounds per game and is a top contender for the WNBA Rookie of the Year, competing closely with Caitlin Clark, who has not yet joined the Unrivaled league.
Along with Reese, the league features stars such as Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Cooper, and Jackie Young. An additional twenty players will join to complete the six-team league for its inaugural season.
