Forbes released its annual list of the world’s highest-paid athletes this week, with Lamar Jackson securing the No. 10 spot. The list accounts for total earnings, including both on-field and off-field income, from May 1, 2023, to May 1, 2024.
During this period, Jackson earned an impressive $100.5 million. The bulk of this income, $98.5 million, came from his record-breaking contract with the Baltimore Ravens. His off-field earnings, totaling $2 million, further contributed to his high ranking.
At 27, Jackson, the prominent face of the Baltimore Ravens, broke into the top 10 primarily due to his substantial $72.5 million signing bonus, which he successfully negotiated without the help of an agent.
Among American-born athletes, Jackson ranked third, following LeBron James, who earned $128.2 million (No. 4 overall), and Steph Curry, who earned $102 million (No. 9 overall). Notably, Jackson is the only NFL player to make it into the top 10.
In terms of off-field income, Jackson benefits from endorsements with brands like Oakley and StatusPro. Additionally, Forbes highlights his diverse business ventures, which include a soul food restaurant, a production company, a record label, and a clothing line called Era 8.

The top spot on Forbes’ list is held by Portuguese soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns a staggering $200 million annually from his contract with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo’s total earnings reached $260 million, marking his fourth time at the top of the list.
