Birmingham City’s talented midfielder, Jordan James, has caught the attention of Championship giants Leeds United, who are keen on signing the 20-year-old sensation. Following Birmingham’s relegation to League One, several of their highly-rated players have become targets for clubs in higher divisions. Leeds United, in particular, are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and believe James would be an excellent addition.
James has already made a significant impact at Birmingham, with over 100 appearances and 11 international caps for Wales. His impressive performances last season, including 42 Championship appearances and eight league goals, have made him a standout player. Leeds manager Daniel Farke sees James as the ideal replacement for Glen Kamara, who was sold to Rennes for £8.4 million.
However, Leeds will face competition from at least one Premier League club, and Birmingham City is under no pressure to sell due to their recent change in financial status. James has also drawn interest from European clubs, including Europa League winners Atalanta. If Leeds can secure the deal, it would be a significant boost to their promotion chances, but they will need to negotiate with Birmingham and fend off interest from other clubs.
The potential transfer would also reunite James with fellow Welshmen Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James, and Joe Rodon, who are already part of the Leeds squad. While the deal is not guaranteed, Leeds’ interest in James highlights their ambition to compete for the Championship title in the upcoming season.
