Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is planning a major overhaul of his 25-man squad for the upcoming Premier League season, with three potential new signings in the pipeline.
Postecoglou, who took over last summer, has already made an impression with his initial signings, including James Maddison. Maddison had an impressive start before an injury hampered his season. Tottenham has also added Micky van de Ven for £43 million, a move that has been praised by fans, especially following Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich.
This summer, Postecoglou is eyeing further reinforcements. The club’s only new addition so far is 18-year-old Archie Gray, but more are expected. A new striker is a priority following Son Heung-min’s recent scoring struggles. Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, who netted 19 goals last season, is a top target.
Postecoglou also extended Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig for another season, though Werner often plays on the left wing. Another potential signing is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, valued at £60 million. Eze is open to joining a bigger club, and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy might approve the deal.
To fund these signings, Spurs are likely to sell several players. Richarlison, who has scored 16 goals in 66 appearances since his 2022 move from Everton, might be sold, especially with interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. Giovani Lo Celso, who has struggled since his £55 million transfer in 2020, is also expected to leave.
Other players likely to be axed include Emerson Royal, Djed Spence, and Bryan Gil. Younger players like Jamie Donley, Ashley Phillips, Dane Scarlett, and Alejo Veliz will head out on loan.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s move to Marseille on a loan with an obligation to buy for £16 million might expedite Tottenham’s market activity. Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is a long-time target for Spurs, and with his contract expiring next year, Tottenham might secure him for a reduced fee.
Tottenham’s potential dream squad for the 2024-25 season could see a blend of new talent and existing stars:
**Goalkeepers:** Brandon Austin, Fraser Forster, Guglielmo Vicario, Alfie Whiteman
**Defenders:** Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven
**Midfielders:** Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, Yves Bissouma, Conor Gallagher*, James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr, Oliver Skipp
**Attackers:** Eberechi Eze*, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke*, Manor Solomon, Son Heung-min, Timo Werner
With these potential changes, Tottenham aims to return to Champions League qualification and compete at the highest levels.
