Tottenham have been linked to several forwards recently, with names like Santiago Gimenez, Ivan Toney, and Viktor Gyokeres circulating.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are now targeting a striker whose playing style has been compared to Harry Kane’s. Earlier this year, Bournemouth legend Charlie Daniels drew parallels between Kane and his former teammate, Dominic Solanke.
“Dom combines the roles of a No. 9 and a No. 10, much like Harry does,” Daniels, who began his career with Spurs, told The Sun. “He wants to stretch the game but can also receive it to feet. His movement and intelligence are similar to Harry’s. They both hold the ball up well and are quite strong. Harry is a more natural finisher, but you can see the similarities.”
It has been reported that Solanke has a £65 million release clause, applicable only to the Premier League’s ‘big six’. This substantial fee raises questions about whether Tottenham will attempt to negotiate a lower price with Bournemouth.
Given that Solanke’s contract runs until 2027, Bournemouth is in a strong position for negotiations. However, with Solanke’s stock at an all-time high, this summer might be an opportune time for Bournemouth to sell.
