Earlier in the offseason, veteran center Jonas Valanciunas was among several players rumored to be potential additions to the Los Angeles Lakers as superstar forward LeBron James was contemplating signing a team-friendly contract to aid the franchise.
Ultimately, the Lakers missed the chance to make a significant acquisition. James did sign a contract that kept L.A. below the second apron but didn’t take a discount large enough to unlock the non-taxpayer midlevel exception for the team.
Recently, there has been less speculation about players like Valanciunas joining the Lakers. However, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Valanciunas might still end up with L.A. this year.
