The Dodgers made several roster adjustments before their series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium. The moves were expected: Miguel Rojas and Michael Grove were activated from the injured list, while James Outman was optioned. Although the Dodgers didn’t specify Outman’s destination on their social media, the official transactions log indicates he’s heading back to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Additionally, Brusdar Graterol was placed on the 15-day injured list following a Grade 3 hamstring strain he suffered the previous day. The 15-day IL placement, rather than the 60-day, is likely procedural, as Graterol’s season may be over, and the Dodgers might delay moving him to the 60-day IL until a 40-man roster spot is needed. Graterol had thrown eight pitches against the Phillies on Tuesday, securing one out. He had spent the entire season on the injured list recovering from a shoulder injury before his hamstring issue occurred in his debut.
This marks the third time this season that the 27-year-old Outman has been optioned. He has posted a .520 OPS with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 135 at-bats with the Dodgers this season.
Grove was activated after missing 42 games due to a right intercostal strain. Before the injury, he had a 4-3 record with a 5.06 ERA in 28 games, though he had shown improvement after a difficult April. A converted starter, Grove posted a 2.45 ERA over 21 games from April 10 to June 7, striking out 36 batters while walking only nine in 25.2 innings. He made just one start during that period.
Rojas, 35, served as the designated hitter for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday in his only minor league rehab game. He had been placed on the injured list on July 22 with a minor forearm injury.
