Watford midfielder Yaser Asprilla is reportedly nearing a transfer to Leicester City after a potential move to Stade Rennais fell through.
According to Foot Mercato, the young Watford star is now more likely to join a Premier League club this summer instead of heading to Ligue 1.
Rennes had shown strong interest in Asprilla and were keen on his profile, approaching Watford to explore the possibility of a deal. Although they were serious contenders for his signature, the increasing competition has diminished their chances.
While Porto had also shown interest, Foot Mercato’s latest information indicates that Asprilla’s agent is currently in England negotiating a €25 million deal with Leicester. The agent prefers Leicester as they are willing to pay the over 10% commission he is seeking, a practice that is illegal in France, thus cooling Rennes’ interest and putting Leicester in the lead.
