Real Madrid are reportedly ready to submit a €50m (£43.06m) bid for one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players.
Earlier this summer, Los Blancos secured the signing of Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain and completed Endrick’s transfer from Palmeiras.
Despite the departures of seasoned players like Nacho, Toni Kroos, and Joselu, Carlo Ancelotti previously stated there would be no further signings before the end of August. Regarding the central defense, Ancelotti mentioned that Jesús Vallejo’s return from a loan spell at Granada was why he did not plan to directly replace long-time club figure Nacho.
However, a recent report suggests that the European champions are now considering a move to strengthen their defensive options. According to Doble Amarilla, Spurs defender Cristian Romero has emerged as an ideal target for Real Madrid.
Romero has spent the last three seasons at Tottenham, making 96 starts and two substitute appearances across all competitions. While Spurs’ defense was not always solid in the 2023-24 season, the Argentina international remains a key player alongside Micky van de Ven.
Romero’s reputation has also grown due to his pivotal role in Argentina’s recent Copa America victory. Argentina conceded just one goal in the five matches he played, underscoring his significant influence on the international stage.
