Recent reports suggest that Chelsea is anticipating a bid from Tottenham for Gallagher soon, although another club has already made an offer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are nearing an agreement for Gallagher this summer (Daily Briefing), but there is a hitch: the player has not yet agreed to move to Spain, leaving the door open for other clubs to pursue him.
However, Ben Jacobs reports that Spurs are unlikely to make another attempt. He indicated that signing a new midfielder is not Tottenham’s current priority, and they expect Gallagher to join Atletico Madrid.
Jacobs tweeted: “No imminent bid for Conor Gallagher expected from Spurs. A player of interest for a while, but understand midfield not a priority position to strengthen. Spurs expect Gallagher to join Atletico and CFC prefer to sell to a non-EPL rival. Gallagher hasn’t decided anything yet.”
