Throughout the 2023 season, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell experienced growing security issues. As a former NFL tight end and now a highly popular figure in Michigan, Campbell found himself facing unwanted attention.
His former home address was leaked to the public, leading to repeated instances of harassment. After being targeted following both the Dallas Cowboys loss and the heartbreaking defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game, Campbell made the decision to relocate his family to a private residence.

Fox 2 Detroit reported that, “Someone sent several contractors to his house as a prank, instructing them to perform unnecessary repairs. This occurred after the NFC Championship loss to the 49ers, which escalated the harassment. The family subsequently filed police reports with the Bloomfield Township police.”
In a public statement, the police department emphasized the importance of respecting privacy, especially for public figures.
“The Bloomfield Township Police Department prioritizes the safety of all residents. We do not tolerate any form of harassment and encourage everyone, including fans, to respect the privacy of individuals and their families.”
Both Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes secured contract extensions during the offseason after leading the Lions to their first division title in decades.
