DONE DEAL: Leicester lands £10.6 Million Loan Forward

Steve Cooper knows that having a consistent goalscorer is crucial for Leicester City’s hopes of staying in the Premier League this season.

With Kelechi Iheanacho departing at the end of his contract, Leicester City’s striking options are now Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Tom Cannon. Vardy has only played once in pre-season and is set to miss the start of the new campaign due to injury, while Cannon was initially expected to leave on loan before Vardy’s injury.

Daka has been inconsistent and has struggled to score regularly since joining Leicester in 2021, so Cooper is looking to strengthen his attacking options.

With limited funds available this summer, Leicester might need to rely on the loan market to address their center-forward issues. Strikers who can guarantee goals at the top level are very expensive, and Leicester is unlikely to afford such a player outright.

However, Cooper seems eager to bring in a young forward with significant potential to bolster Leicester’s survival chances. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, David Datro Fofana is expected to leave Chelsea on loan this summer, potentially with an obligation-to-buy clause. Romano noted on ‘X’: “Understand Leicester City are currently leading the race with Stuttgart and Villarreal also interested.”
