Newcastle United have expressed great admiration for AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw and are considering a bargain deal for the German player this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who spoke exclusively to GIVEMESPORT.
The Italian journalist noted that the Magpies are interested in Thiaw, who has recently been linked to a move to St James’ Park. Romano mentioned that Thiaw’s value has decreased somewhat after his second season with the Rossoneri, who acquired him from Schalke in 2022.
Newcastle showed their interest in Thiaw as early as June when the club was under pressure to sell players before the end of the month to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. Romano also revealed that Eddie Howe’s team discussed a potential swap deal with the Serie A club, which would have involved Kieran Trippier, but the negotiations eventually fell through.
In the end, the Magpies successfully sold other players before the June 30 deadline. Young talents Eliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were transferred, bringing in a combined £65 million for the club.
