Tottenham Hotspur welcomes an exciting new talent as Lucas Bergvall officially begins his journey with the north London club following his .
Lucas Bergvall, previously with Djurgarden, has officially joined Tottenham as of July 1. The young Swedish midfielder made the move for a fee of £8.5 million.
Signed on his 18th birthday in February, Bergvall chose Tottenham over other suitors, including Barcelona. He spent the first half of the Allsvenskan season with Djurgarden and is now ready for his new challenge in the Premier League.

Bergvall, who signed a five-year contract, will start pre-season training at Hotspur Way this weekend. His impressive record at Djurgarden includes six goals and five assists in 18 matches this season.
In an interview last month, Bergvall expressed his excitement for the upcoming season. “I have another pre-season. It’s a double pre-season for me! In Sweden, you have three or four months of pre-season from January to April when the league starts. So I’ll have another one but I’m not going to complain!” he said.
Tottenham has given Bergvall a few extra days off if needed, allowing him some rest after his final game with Djurgarden and international duty. “It’s fine though, I love this. I love football but it’s good to rest mentally and get your energy back. It’s going to be a really exciting new season,” Bergvall added.
Bergvall honed his skills in the academy at Brommapojkarna, a club that also produced Dejan Kulusevski, before moving to Djurgarden. Tommy Soderstrom, Brommapojkarna’s head of youth and recruiting, praised Bergvall’s potential, saying, “Dejan Kulusevski is a very good player, but Lucas Bergvall is much better than Limpar and Kulusevski were at that age. He can be a top, top player in Europe.”
Soderstrom emphasized Bergvall’s mental strength and technical skills, noting that he excelled in youth tournaments against teams like Bayern and Barcelona. “He is good up here (points to his head). Don’t worry about that. With the ball he will adapt very quickly,” Soderstrom said.
As Bergvall embarks on his Tottenham career, there is great optimism about his potential to thrive in the Premier League and make a significant impact.
