DONE DEAL: Tottenham lands £60 Million Target

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is reportedly ready to enter the transfer market to find a replacement for Harry Kane, a year after the striker moved to Bayern Munich.

The Australian coach seems to be moving away from using Son Heung-min as a center forward, despite the South Korean’s impressive tally of 17 goals and 10 assists last season. Son, 32, is often more effective from the left flank. Postecoglou is now looking for a new striker amid uncertainty over Richarlison’s future. The Brazilian forward has been linked with a £60 million move to Saudi Arabia, although he has expressed a desire to stay in north London. Despite starting only 18 Premier League games last season, Spurs might consider selling the 27-year-old to recoup their investment.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, valued at £50 million after scoring 19 goals last season, has emerged as a potential target. Despite having 20-year-old Alejo Veliz available after his loan at Sevilla, Veliz might join Fiorentina. Postecoglou has confirmed his intent to sign a new striker, hinting at the type of player he is seeking.

Postecoglou said, “It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us. At Celtic, I had Kyogo [Furuhashi], who was a sort of out and out number nine and in Japan, I’ve always had a striker. It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it’s fair to say. But if Harry would have stayed I definitely would have used him!”

He added, “So I think for us what’s more important is the type of striker we get. You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it’s going be a striker that fits that mould.”

Football.London reports that Bournemouth is preparing for a bid for Solanke, who has a £65 million release clause, potentially making the transfer costly.

In addition, Tottenham might consider selling midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who has only made 17 starts since his £55 million transfer from Real Betis four years ago. A return to Betis for a fee of around £15 million might be possible.

With James Maddison in the No. 10 role and young talents like Lucas Bergvall and Alfie Devine providing backup, Spurs fans have reason to be optimistic about the upcoming season.
