
Second-seeded Emma Navarro of the United States overcame a tough start to defeat ninth-seeded Magdalena Frech of Poland with a scoreline of 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2, securing her spot in the Monterrey Open semifinals.

The 23-year-old Navarro, a former NCAA champion from the University of Virginia, will compete against sixth-seeded Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic on Friday. Noskova advanced after defeating fifth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 6-4.
Navarro claimed her first WTA Tour title earlier this year at Hobart and previously reached the Trophee Clarins final in Paris.
In the other semifinal, third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia will take on Lulu Sun of New Zealand. Alexandrova triumphed over seventh-seeded Yue Yuan of China 7-5, 7-6 (3), while Sun defeated Erika Andreeva of Russia 6-4, 6-3.
Alexandrova, 29, won her last WTA Tour title at Hertogenbosch last year, while Noskova and Sun are both seeking their first tour titles.
