ESPN: Lakers Make New Roster Move

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed 23-year-old Vincent Valerio-Bodon, a versatile guard-forward, to their roster. Valerio-Bodon spent last season with the South Bay Lakers, the franchise’s G League affiliate, where he showcased his potential across 25 games.

He posted averages of 6.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.4% from the field and 30.6% from beyond the arc. His performance earned him a chance to play for the Lakers’ NBA Summer League team, where he further demonstrated his potential as a developing talent.

On Wednesday, the Lakers made the announcement about his signing, with HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reporting that the deal is an Exhibit 10 contract. This type of contract typically allows teams to bring in a player for training camp, with the option to convert the deal into a two-way or ten-day contract later in the season. While Valerio-Bodon is expected to be waived before the 2024-25 NBA season kicks off, it’s highly probable he will rejoin the South Bay Lakers to continue developing his game in the G League.

Given his solid performance in the G League and Summer League, Valerio-Bodon could also emerge as a candidate for a two-way or ten-day contract later in the season, giving him a potential pathway to the NBA roster. The Lakers, who finished last season with a 47-35 record and a playoff appearance, are continuing to strengthen their development pipeline, and Valerio-Bodon could be an important part of that strategy moving forward.

Although he might not start the season on the Lakers’ main roster, Valerio-Bodon’s signing underscores the franchise’s commitment to nurturing young talent and preparing players for future opportunities in the NBA.
