GOOD NEWS: Clemson graduate wins gold medal for Team Jamaica in Men’s Discus Finals at Paris Olympics

CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Clemson graduate Rojé Stona secured the gold medal for Team Jamaica in the Men’s Discus Finals at the Paris Olympics, marking his first Olympic medal.

Stona, a former Clemson track and field athlete, becomes the fourth Clemson track and field athlete to win an individual gold medal and the first male to do so since 2004.

He is the 25th Clemson athlete to win an Olympic medal.

During his time at Clemson, Stona was the ACC discus champion in 2019 and the National Runner-Up in discus at the 2022 NCAA Championships. He also holds the school’s discus record with a throw of 65.11 meters, set in 2022.
