GOOD NEWS: Congratulations to Ryan Lindgren. $4.5 Million Contract Signed

The New York Rangers have secured a deal with veteran defenseman Ryan Lindgren, signing him to a one-year contract worth $4.5 million for the 2024-25 season. This agreement allows Lindgren, 26, to become an unrestricted free agent after next season. The contract value aligns with projections and marks an increase from his previous three-year deal, which had a $3 million cap hit.

Lindgren, a Minneapolis native, has completed his fifth season with the Rangers, contributing three goals and 14 assists. His 17 points are just shy of his career-high, set during the 2022-23 campaign. He has consistently scored at least 15 points in each of the last four seasons.

Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Lindgren was traded to the Rangers in 2018. Over six seasons with the Rangers, he has appeared in 333 games, scoring 10 goals and 70 assists, including 11 points in 43 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Lindgren’s amateur career was marked by notable achievements, including two-time Big Ten All-Star Team Honorable Mentions at the University of Minnesota. He has also represented the United States in several international competitions, winning silver at the 2014 World Under-17 Challenge, bronze at the 2016 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championship, and gold at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
