Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna believes set-pieces will be crucial for his team as they compete in the Premier League this season. The Blues secured their winning goal against Hoffenheim on Saturday from a corner, with many set-pieces targeting the tall Jacob Greaves at the back post.
McKenna emphasized the importance of capitalizing on set-pieces, especially since Town will likely have fewer scoring opportunities in the top tier.
“It’s going to be massive for us, no doubt about it,” he said following Saturday’s victory. “Our set play record has been excellent over the last couple of years, both in attack and defense. We need to rely on it as a source of goals. We’ll have fewer set-pieces, fewer corners, and fewer opportunities in the final third.”
