The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their inside linebacker corps this summer by signing Patrick Queen to a three-year deal. Currently, their roster includes four linebackers, but a former player believes they should add a fifth.
Terence Garvin, speaking on the podcast “The Arthur Moats Experience,” proposed that the Steelers re-sign inside linebacker Kwon Alexander. Alexander, 29, has recently returned to the field after recovering from an Achilles tear last season.
“Imagine having Pat Queen and Kwon together,” Garvin enthused. “That would be an incredibly dynamic unit. Even with his Achilles’ tendon injury, bringing him back could be a smart move. He was performing exceptionally well last year.”

Currently, the Steelers’ linebacker lineup features Queen, Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb, and Mark Robinson. Holcomb is in the process of recovering from ACL surgery, which he underwent in Week 9, just a week before Alexander’s injury. Although head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned during the NFL Meetings that Holcomb’s rehabilitation is progressing positively, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain.
Last season, Alexander played nine games for the Steelers, achieving one interception, one forced fumble, two pass deflections, one sack, 41 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits.
Despite multiple injuries throughout his career, Alexander has shown resilience in his recoveries. If the Steelers decide to enhance their linebacker depth further, re-signing Alexander could be a viable option.
