Houston Rockets set for $40 Million Trade

Despite the Houston Rockets’ anticipated major trade moves this summer to acquire a proven star, such a deal has not materialized. Many believe that with a healthy roster, the Rockets could have reached the play-in tournament in the competitive Western Conference. Even with injuries, they improved to 41 wins from a 22-60 record in 2022-23.

The drafting of Reed Sheppard, despite the crowded guard position, has sparked speculation about Jalen Green’s future with the team. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Rockets are now more open to trading Green due to Sheppard’s potential.

“At some point, Houston is going to make a move on the trade market. This organization aims to significantly upgrade their roster for a serious playoff push this upcoming season. How Sheppard performs in Las Vegas and early in the season will directly impact Green’s future with the team.”

While many in Houston still believe in Green’s potential as a long-term scoring option at shooting guard, the Rockets are reportedly more willing to entertain trade discussions involving him. Despite not actively shopping Green, other than a previous attempt to trade him for Mikal Bridges, his future is more uncertain compared to Alperen Sengun, whom the organization views as a top-five NBA center.

This isn’t the first time Green has been mentioned as a trade asset for the Rockets, and it likely won’t be the last.
