Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is experiencing what might be the best season of his career so far.
In 80 games, Devers has posted a .289 batting average with a .955 OPS, 21 home runs, 58 RBIs, and two stolen bases. He has also showcased his defensive skills at third base.
This performance earned him a spot on the American League All-Star team for the third time in his career. Unfortunately, he will not be participating in the event, opting to rest his injured shoulder instead.
Devers’ shoulder has been a minor issue throughout the season but hasn’t significantly impacted his playing time. In an interview on the “310 to Left” podcast with Alex Speier, Devers provided an update on his condition.

“Thankfully, the shoulder isn’t really anything too serious,” Devers said through his interpreter. “It’s not something that’s bothering me too much. And, at the end of the day, I’m the kind of player that it doesn’t matter if I have anything bothering me, I just try to go here to the ballpark to give the best of me. I go up there at home plate. I’ll make my adjustments where I need to make them so I can be out there to play, but I’m just always gonna be positive no matter what and always give the best of me.”
Devers’ resilience and dedication are significant factors in the Red Sox’s recent success, helping them secure a wild-card spot and remain just 5.5 games out of first place in their division.
