JUST IN: Lakers Trade Proposal Involves $48 Million Center in a 2-for-1 Deal

The Lakers are actively seeking a big man, but like many teams in the league, they are currently in a holding pattern regarding trades. The Lakers face limitations due to their full 15-player roster and their proximity to the NBA’s luxury tax “second apron.”

Head coach JJ Redick has acknowledged that the team’s biggest need is a “bruising” big man to play alongside Anthony Davis. Davis, who has primarily played center since joining the Lakers in 2019, prefers the power forward position.

Considering this, the Lakers have been exploring center options. One viable candidate on the trade market is Portland’s Robert Williams. Although Williams has struggled with injuries throughout his career, he is an excellent defensive player when healthy.

Moreover, Williams is available for trade. “I don’t think anyone on that roster is untouchable except maybe their young guys,” said one NBA executive about the Blazers. “They’re asking for a lot for their pieces, and it’s a waiting game to see if the price comes down on some of those guys. But Rob (Williams) is on a good contract and would be a huge help as long as you can keep him healthy.
