JUST IN: Leicester City Player Speaks Positive about the Club after Joining Another Side

Striker Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed high regard for Leicester City as he prepares for a new chapter at Sevilla.
In an interview covered by El Correo, Iheanacho discussed his move to Sevilla following his departure from Leicester this summer.
After choosing not to extend his contract with Leicester, Iheanacho became a free agent. He had joined the Foxes in 2017 from Manchester City for €27.7 million, having risen through the youth ranks at the Etihad.
During his tenure at Leicester, Iheanacho made 232 appearances, scoring 61 goals and providing 34 assists. He also contributed to the team’s victories in the FA Cup, Charity Shield, and the Championship last season.
However, his final season with Leicester was challenging. He made only 26 appearances across all competitions, with just ten starts in the league. From December onwards, he did not complete a full 90 minutes as manager Enzo Maresca favored other players.
Ultimately, this limited playtime influenced his decision to leave Leicester. Despite this, Iheanacho spoke warmly of his former club.
“Last season was a mix of emotions,” he said. “I played in the first part of the season but didn’t get opportunities in the second half. The most important thing was that we won the trophy as a team. We were a cohesive group and achieved it for ourselves and Leicester City. That was the most significant aspect. Leicester is a great football club and a wonderful family. It was gratifying to end with a smile and a trophy.”
