Kate Garraway Breaks Silence Amid Good Morning Britain Absence Following Father’s ‘Scary’ Collapse

Kate Garraway has taken a break from her duties on Good Morning Britain to be with her family after her father experienced a “scary” health crisis. The presenter apologized to her fans and followers for her sudden absence and shared that her father was recently rushed to the hospital.

On Wednesday (July 31), Kate took to Instagram to explain her situation. She posted a heartfelt photo of herself and her father, who had been hospitalized two weeks prior. The image, which showed them walking in the countryside, was accompanied by a personal message from the 57-year-old presenter.

“Hi all – sorry I disappeared when my Dad collapsed and was rushed to the hospital 2 weeks ago while on holiday with my Mum at my brother’s,” she wrote. “It was very scary, but I am so pleased that he is now stable and even recovering a bit in the hospital. We have so much to be grateful for, but we are taking it a day at a time.”

Kate expressed her gratitude towards the NHS staff for their exceptional care and kindness. “Huge thanks to the incredible NHS staff for their endless kindness and the heart they put into the care of all their patients, which has meant so much to my mum and all our family,” she continued. “Huge thanks also to my incredible friends at @itv and @smoothradio, particularly @ranvirtv, @charlottehawkins1, @tinahobleyofficial, and @myleeneklass, for yet again changing their plans to cover for me so I could put my family first.”

She also mentioned that she had already planned some time off, which allowed her to support her mother and brother and be with her father while also ensuring her children, Darcey and Billy, had some fun during their school holidays. “I am hoping to be back on @gmb and @smoothradio on Monday, so I can update more then, but for now, sending love to you all #love #hope #friendshipday.”

Fellow Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid quickly responded to Kate’s update, writing, “Such a relief for your lovely Dad and your whole family. Loads of love to you all, always,” alongside a red heart emoji. Smooth Radio co-star Myleene Klass commented, “Glad your Papa is okay. Love you x.”

This incident follows a particularly challenging period for Kate, as her father’s health scare comes six months after the passing of her husband Derek, who died in January after a long battle with Covid-19.
