Milan in Talks with Union Berlin for Portuguese Defender

AC Milan is prioritizing the acquisition of a central defender in the upcoming summer transfer window, with several candidates under consideration. A recent report sheds light on one specific player the Rossoneri are actively pursuing.

Last season, Milan’s defensive struggles were evident, significantly impacting their pursuit of the Scudetto. The winter period, already challenging due to a congested fixture list, was particularly harsh for Milan as they faced a series of injuries that left their defense depleted.

Key defenders Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer, Pierre Kalulu, and Malick Thiaw all spent considerable time out of action. To avoid a repeat of these issues in the upcoming season, Milan is determined to strengthen their central defensive options.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via Milan News), ongoing discussions are taking place between AC Milan and Union Berlin regarding Diogo Leite, a Portuguese defender who is a serious target for the Italian club. Leite is currently valued at €18 million, but Di Marzio notes that this price is expected to decrease.

Additionally, Milan maintains a strong interest in Tottenham’s Emerson Royal. However, there is a significant gap between Milan and Tottenham regarding his valuation. Given Milan’s need to address multiple positions, the budget for Emerson Royal may be adjusted to allocate funds more effectively to higher-priority areas.
