Saturday marked a pivotal moment for AC Milan as stars Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, and Tijjani Reijnders rejoined the team following extended holidays. Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that the Serie A runners-up are set to ramp up contract extension negotiations with the French duo.
All three players were key figures in the EURO 2024 semi-finals for France and the Netherlands. After a much-needed break, they are back in training, preparing under new manager Paulo Fonseca.
While Milan is currently on a pre-season tour in the United States, Maignan, Hernandez, and Reijnders are training separately at Milanello. Upon the team’s return to Italy, discussions on renewing the French stars’ contracts are expected to gain momentum.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently emphasized Milan’s determination to retain their top talents. “Theo, Leao, and Maignan are happy here because they are among the best in the world at their positions. We don’t need to sell,” he stated.
Despite interest from top European clubs, Milan views Maignan and Hernandez as indispensable. However, captain Davide Calabria’s future remains uncertain, as he may leave San Siro this summer, though he aims to impress Fonseca.
