Red Sox Make Series of Roster Moves

The Boston Red Sox made a series of roster changes on Monday afternoon, recalling veteran catcher Tyler Heineman and right-handers Isaiah Campbell and Josh Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester. To accommodate these additions, starting catcher Connor Wong was placed on the paternity leave list, expected to be a brief absence, while pitchers Cam Booser and Brad Keller were sent down to the Worcester WooSox.

**Heineman Returns to the Majors**

Tyler Heineman’s return marks his third call-up to the majors this season. Previously recalled on April 21 and June 4, Heineman has played only once for the Red Sox in 2024, going 0-for-1 and being hit by a pitch against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In Triple-A, Heineman is batting .242 with a .720 OPS over 30 games. Over his five-year MLB career, he has appeared in 105 games, recording one home run and 15 RBIs with five different teams.

**Wong Takes Paternity Leave**

Connor Wong, the Red Sox’s starting catcher, was placed on paternity leave. Wong is enjoying his best season yet, hitting .330 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs in 57 games. He leads the team in batting average and is second in OPS. Wong has primarily played as catcher but has also spent time at first and second base.

**Campbell and Winckowski Rejoin the Team**

Isaiah Campbell, who made the Opening Day roster but struggled with a 12.79 ERA before landing on the injured list, returns to the Red Sox. After being optioned to Triple-A on June 6, Campbell has improved, posting a 2.19 ERA over 12 1/3 innings.

Josh Winckowski, who also started the year with Boston, had a more extended stint, appearing in 12 games and starting three, with a 3.33 ERA over 24 innings. In Triple-A, Winckowski excelled as a starter, achieving a 2.87 ERA and a 3-2 record over six starts and seven appearances.

**Booser and Keller Sent Down**

Cam Booser was demoted to Worcester after spending most of 2024 in the majors, debuting on April 19. Booser pitched in 26 games, achieving a 3.21 ERA with three holds and a save, including eight consecutive scoreless outings before his demotion.

Brad Keller, recently signed by the Red Sox after being designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox, was also sent to Triple-A. Keller had a rough start with Boston, recording a 5.40 ERA over nine games.

**Recent Roster Transactions**

These moves follow Boston’s recent activation of three players from the injured list: outfielder Wilyer Abreu (sprained ankle), reliever Chris Martin (anxiety), and middle infielder Romy Gonzalez (hamstring strain). None of Monday’s roster changes were injury-related.
