A popular Nike Kobe Bryant sneaker model is getting a fresh update, and rumors suggest it might be released just in time for a spooky fall holiday.
The Nike Kobe 5 “X-ray” first surfaced online in March 2024, teased by Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant. Her preview showed a top-down view of the purple sneakers, which feature a foot bone structure print and a glow-in-the-dark outsole. Although the exact inspiration behind the “X-ray” theme is unconfirmed, it may reference a vintage Nike Kobe T-shirt depicting his hand with NBA championship rings.

While the “X-ray” concept is new for Kobe sneakers, Nike has previously applied similar designs to other shoes, such as the iconic Air Force 1. Starting in 2018, Nike released Halloween-themed “Skeleton” Air Force 1s featuring bone prints, in various colorways including white, black, orange, and purple.

Newly leaked images on Instagram by @idontsellshoes provide a detailed look at the upcoming Nike Kobe 5 Protro “X-ray.” Insider @zsneakerheadz reports that the sneaker is expected to release on October 31, Halloween. The colorway, named “Deep Royal Blue/Baltic Blue-Glacier Blue,” will retail for $190 in adult sizes. You can check out the shoe’s glow-in-the-dark features below.
