Report: Tottenham may now have a £15m transfer opportunity.

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Ange Postecoglou, is hoping for a busy July in the transfer market to elevate his squad to the next level.

Ange Postecoglou will be looking forward to significant transfer activity at Tottenham in the coming weeks.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s run in Euro 2024 has concluded. After Denmark advanced from Group C, finishing second behind England, they faced Germany in the round of 16.

In a challenging match against the host nation, Denmark overcame an early scare when Nico Schlotterbeck’s goal was disallowed. Hojbjerg was instrumental in Denmark’s midfield, challenging Ilkay Gundogan and Germany’s midfield with his stellar performance.

However, the match turned in Germany’s favor early in the second half. Kai Havertz scored from the penalty spot, and shortly after, Joachim Andersen’s goal was disallowed for offside. Andersen then handled the ball in the box, and Havertz converted the penalty.

Despite Denmark’s continued efforts, including opportunities for Rasmus Hojlund, Jamal Musiala scored Germany’s second goal in the 68th minute, ending Denmark’s campaign. Hojbjerg’s impressive performances in the tournament mean he will now go on his summer break.

As Euro 2024 and Copa America affect transfer market activities, Hojbjerg’s early exit might expedite a move away from Tottenham for the 28-year-old. Valued at £15 million by Transfermarkt, Hojbjerg is expected to attract numerous suitors due to his experience and strong showing at the Euros.

Although a regular starter before Postecoglou’s arrival in June 2023, Hojbjerg played in 36 of Tottenham’s 38 Premier League games last season, starting only eight. Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr had moved ahead of him in the lineup, with Rodrigo Bentancur returning from injury.

Despite his reduced starts, Hojbjerg played a crucial role from the bench, using his experience to help close out games. However, he prefers a starting role and is likely to leave Tottenham to secure regular playtime.

Tottenham needs to sell Hojbjerg this summer to avoid losing him for free at the end of the 2024/25 season, with Monday marking the start of the final year of his contract.

Linked with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, Hojbjerg could attract interest from other clubs after his impressive Euro 2024 performances. Given his contract situation, a club is likely to secure a bargain deal for him this summer.
