Report: Wilfred Ndidi Returns to Leicester City Amid Interest from Top European Clubs

Wilfred Ndidi, along with fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho, is currently unattached following the expiration of their contracts with Leicester City last month.

Contract Extension Imminent for Ndidi

Despite interest from major clubs such as Barcelona, Sevilla, and Juventus, Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi is reportedly close to renewing his contract with Premier League newcomers Leicester City.

Ndidi’s contract with Leicester expired on June 30, and he has been linked with several high-profile moves. However, Footmercato suggests that the Nigerian midfielder has reached an agreement to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.

Key Player in Leicester’s Promotion

Ndidi played a vital role under manager Enzo Maresca, contributing six goals and six assists in 36 appearances, which were crucial in Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League.

Salary Negotiations

Earlier reports indicated that Ndidi rejected a €1.5 million per year offer from Sevilla, demanding €4 million instead. Leicester City, who previously offered Ndidi a weekly salary of around £75,000, are now expected to increase his wages to secure his services for another season.

Awaiting Official Confirmation

While an official announcement is yet to be made, Ndidi’s potential contract extension signifies his importance to Leicester City as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. Despite being heavily linked with a move away from England, Ndidi’s future seems increasingly tied to Leicester City.
