SAD: linebacker exit from Alabama’s 2025 class

Myles Johnson, a highly-touted four-star linebacker from T.R. Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama, has announced his decision to decommit from Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class. This news, shared on Instagram on Wednesday, marks another significant change for Alabama’s recruitment efforts. Johnson had initially pledged his commitment to the Crimson Tide last October and was recognized as “Nick Saban’s final recruiting find” by The Athletic, highlighting his significance to the program.

Johnson’s recruitment journey began modestly, with his only initial offer coming from Liberty. However, his talent quickly garnered attention, leading to a pivotal offer from Alabama. This offer opened the floodgates, and Johnson has since received numerous additional offers, reflecting his rising status in the recruiting world. His recruitment process included an official visit to Florida last month, indicating a keen interest in exploring all his options before making a final decision.

Despite the setback of Johnson’s decommitment, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class remains impressively strong. Since June 1, the program has successfully secured 12 new commitments, underscoring its resilience and continued appeal to top-tier high school talent. This influx of new recruits has helped maintain Alabama’s prestigious position at No. 2 in 247 Sports’ team rankings for high school recruiting. The decommitment of a player of Johnson’s caliber is certainly noteworthy, but it does little to diminish the overall strength and promise of Alabama’s future roster.
