Following his victory over teammate Austin Prock at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, NH, 75-year-old John Force, with 157 wins to his name, announced that Prock will eventually take over his Funny Car seat.
“I tend to talk a lot, but I believe this kid is the future,” Force remarked about the 28-year-old rookie who filled in for three-time champion Robert Hight this season.
While Force, the most successful driver in NHRA history, didn’t set a retirement date, he acknowledged, “My time in the driver’s seat is nearing its end. I won’t quit tomorrow; I’ll be at Bristol next weekend for the Thunder Valley Nationals. But I’m starting to plan ahead.”

Regarding Prock’s potential, Force emphasized, “If you want winners like Robert Hight and Brittany Force, support Austin Prock. He’s likely the one to succeed me.”
He also hinted at bringing another driver into his team, with Jordan Vandergriff reportedly joining John Force Racing in a Top Fuel dragster role.
