Simone Biles discloses unexpected reason why the Paris all-around final was the most stressful competition of her career – even though she secured another gymnastics gold!

Simone Biles described her gold medal win in the all-around final on Thursday as her most stressful competition, citing the pressure from her rival, Rebeca Andrade. Despite an imperfect performance on the asymmetric bars, Biles was visibly anxious as Andrade executed her routines flawlessly, trailing Biles by just 0.166 points before the final apparatus.

Though Biles, 27, ultimately claimed her sixth Olympic gold, she admitted to reporters that she was reluctant to compete against Andrade again. “I don’t want to compete with Rebeca anymore. I’m tired,” Biles quipped. “She’s way too close. I’ve never had an athlete that close, and it definitely pushed me to my limits, bringing out my best. I’m proud to compete with her, but it made me uncomfortable. I was stressed.”

U.S. teammate and bronze medalist c concurred, noting, “I swear I’ve never seen you that stressed!”

Andrade, on the other hand, expressed pride in her performance and the close competition with Biles. She was seen smiling on camera as Biles secured her victory, relegating Andrade to silver. “I was very proud of her. It was amazing,” Andrade said. “I was very happy because I had a good competition and was proud of myself. It was a smile of joy for her and for me, knowing I did my best.”

Despite Biles’ comments, she and Andrade are set to compete again in the vault, balance beam, and floor finals on August 3 and August 5 in Paris.
