Ollie Watkins may have had a challenging start to the season, but Aston Villa has been able to rely on the unexpected goal-scoring prowess of Amadou Onana. It’s fair to say that Onana’s ability to score wasn’t the primary reason Villa made him their £50 million record signing from Everton.
During his time with the Toffees, Onana scored only four goals across 72 appearances in all competitions. However, in just three matches for Villa, he’s already halfway to matching that total, having netted the opening goal in each of Unai Emery’s side’s two Premier League victories against West Ham and Leicester.
