Giovani Lo Celso is likely to depart from Tottenham Hotspur, but his £3.4 million annual wage demands are complicating potential transfer

Potential Move to Aston Villa
Recent transfer rumors have linked Lo Celso with a move to Aston Villa, possibly involving midfielder Jacob Ramsey moving to Tottenham. Sky Sports has reported extensively on this potential deal, noting that Spurs were willing to use Lo Celso as a makeweight to acquire Ramsey. As of mid-July, Spurs are still considering this swap deal, according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge.
Lazio’s Interest
In addition to Aston Villa, Lazio has shown interest in the Argentine midfielder. Lo Celso recently assisted the winning goal for Argentina in the Copa America final. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio is comfortable with Tottenham’s €10 million asking price (£8.4 million) but is struggling with Lo Celso’s wage demands.
Wage Demands as a Sticking Point
Lo Celso is seeking between €4 million and €5 million per year (£3.37 million-£4.21 million) after taxes in Italy. Lazio is unwilling or unable to meet these demands, meaning Lo Celso may need to lower his wage expectations to secure a move to Serie A this summer.
