Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity has been slow this summer, with only Archie Gray signed permanently. As Ange Postecoglou’s team prepares for their second pre-season friendly and upcoming Asian tour, the club has seen more departures than arrivals.
Gray, demonstrating his versatility by playing center-back against Hearts, is the sole new addition. However, with a busier season ahead, Spurs are keen to address their squad needs more effectively.

One target catching Tottenham’s eye is a £70m-rated player from a Premier League rival. Despite limited activity, the signing of Gray, worth around £40m with Joe Rodon moving to Leeds United, was significant. Tottenham scouts are now reportedly monitoring Nottingham Forest center-back Murillo, a Brazilian talent who impressed last season.
Murillo, valued at up to £70m, has drawn interest from multiple clubs, including Chelsea. Although spending such a sum on a backup center-back seems impractical for Spurs, especially with Radu Dragusin ahead in the pecking order, Murillo’s speed and defensive abilities have been praised by former Spurs defender Michael Dawson.
A potential move for Murillo might only make sense if Cristian Romero, who has attracted interest from Real Madrid, were to be sold. Spurs are eager to retain their Copa America-winning defender, making any decision regarding Murillo’s acquisition complex.
