The Los Angeles Lakers may be looking to acquire a familiar adversary. Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reports that the Lakers showed interest in trading for Toronto Raptors swingman Bruce Brown last season and continue to be interested in him this offseason.
Brown, who is likely to be a trade asset for the rebuilding Raptors, had his $23 million team option picked up for next season, positioning him as a significant expiring contract. Last year, Brown averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, earning a reputation for his positional versatility, three-and-D skills, and ability to rebound effectively despite his 6-foot-4 frame.
The Lakers are well-acquainted with Brown’s abilities, as he was part of the 2023 Denver Nuggets team that won the NBA championship, sweeping the Lakers in the Western Conference finals. During that series, Brown notably took some shots at Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell. Interestingly, Russell, with his expiring $18.7 million contract, might need to be included in any trade for Brown. Nonetheless, the Lakers remain keen on adding Brown to their roster.
