The Golden State Warriors may consider making significant changes to their roster during the offseason. The extent of these changes is still unclear, but acquiring another elite veteran star could be a way to push the team back into championship contention.
Potential Trade Details
Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report suggests that a major move could involve reuniting with Kevin Durant. The proposed trade would send Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Kevon Looney, and a 2025 first-round pick to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Durant, reuniting him with Steph Curry.
“This deal would give the Suns immediate three-and-D help from Wiggins, a cheaper alternative to Jusuf Nurkić at center, a potential star in Kuminga, cash savings, and actual draft equity—all for a player entering his age-36 season,” Hughes explains. “Durant’s past issues with Draymond Green are a concern, but he could elevate the Warriors back into the contender class.”

Impact on the Warriors
Durant’s addition would be a significant boost for the Warriors, making them strong contenders for the championship. He is already familiar with Steve Kerr’s system, both offensively and defensively, which would facilitate his reintegration into the team.
Realistic Outlook
While adding Durant is an enticing prospect, it may not be realistic for Golden State. The Phoenix Suns are likely reluctant to part with their star player, and the cost for the Warriors would be substantial. However, if Durant were to return, the Warriors’ championship prospects would significantly improve.
