TRANSFER: Leicester Nearing Crucial Signing as Preseason Schedule Unveiled

Leicester City is reportedly close to securing a significant addition from the Scottish Premier League, potentially bringing Celtic star Matt O’Riley to King Power Stadium—a much-needed boost for the team.

Meanwhile, the Foxes’ preseason schedule has been announced, outlining their preparations for an anticipated challenging season.

Shifting Focus to Domestic Football

After England’s recent disappointment in Euro 2024, attention shifts back to club football. Leicester City has released their preseason itinerary, featuring some surprising matchups.

The Foxes will kick off their preseason against Shrewsbury Town at Croud Meadow, followed by a match against Palermo in Chesterfield—an intriguing test for Leicester. This schedule represents a departure from their usual approach of starting with lower league teams before facing more formidable opponents.

Interestingly, Leicester’s final preseason match will be against RC Lens at Estadio Bollaert-Delelis in France, instead of their traditional home game against a tougher team. Another notable fixture is against FC Augsburg on August 3, possibly influenced by Leicester’s decision to hold two training camps this year.

Matt O’Riley: Leicester’s Next Target?

Reports suggest that Leicester City is in a strong position to sign Matt O’Riley from Celtic. The Denmark international is a fan favorite at Celtic Park, but Leicester appears determined to bring the 23-year-old midfielder to their squad, edging out interest from Atalanta, Everton, and Southampton.

If the deal goes through, Leicester hopes O’Riley can deliver performances similar to those of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, strengthening their midfield for the upcoming season.
