Transfer: West Ham Makes Surprising Offer for Galatasaray Star

West Ham United is reportedly targeting Wilfried Zaha for a summer move from Galatasaray, and their offer has stirred some reactions.

The club was first linked with Zaha earlier this summer as a potential signing under new manager Julen Lopetegui. Although Lopetegui has since signed Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham, he still needs to address the vacancy left by Said Benrahma’s move to Lyon, particularly for a right-footed left winger.

Zaha, despite being past his physical prime, is considered an ideal candidate to fill this role. Known for his exceptional dribbling skills, the Ivory Coast international could significantly enhance West Ham’s attacking prowess. However, the club’s chances of securing his services seem slim due to their reportedly inadequate offer to Galatasaray.

After joining Galatasaray on a free transfer last season, Zaha scored 10 goals and provided five assists, helping the team secure a league title. His Premier League experience and reputation as a formidable opponent make him a desirable addition for West Ham.

Despite the interest, West Ham faces challenges in meeting Zaha’s wage demands. The Hammers reportedly want to sign him on a free transfer, but Galatasaray is asking for a fee. Zaha currently earns £106k per week at Galatasaray and is likely seeking a higher salary for his next contract. Reports suggest West Ham might need to pay around £8.5 million to bring him to London Stadium.

Zaha’s track record in the Premier League, with 68 goals and 28 assists in 291 games, makes him a valuable asset. His dynamic playing style and ability to unsettle opponents would fill a gap in West Ham’s current lineup. However, it remains uncertain whether West Ham’s owners will agree to meet both the transfer fee and Zaha’s wage demands.
