Tyson Fury has spoken out following another disappointment related to his quest for undisputed heavyweight champion status, courtesy of Oleksandr Usyk.
Last month, Fury’s dream of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years was dashed by Usyk in a closely contested bout. Fury lost to the Ukrainian southpaw via split decision in their historic matchup.

Adding to Fury’s frustrations, Usyk vacated the IBF title earlier this week, meaning their rematch in December won’t be for all the heavyweight belts. Despite this, Fury, 35, remains undeterred, focusing on avenging his first professional defeat rather than collecting all the titles.
During an unexpected FaceTime call with Saudi official Turki Alalshikh and rival Anthony Joshua, Fury declared, “I’ll get it done. I’ll get the job done.”
Joshua, who has also suffered defeats at the hands of Usyk, retorted, “No you won’t – but either way, I’m waiting for you.” Fury confidently replied, “I’m gonna get the job done.”
Reflecting on his initial loss to Usyk, Fury said, “I thought I boxed his head right off him for most of the rounds. He landed a good punch in round eight that busted my nose. In round nine he had a 10-8 round, and I gave him round ten. Other than that, I didn’t give him any other rounds.”
Fury acknowledged that he may have been too complacent during the fight, likening it to sparring with an amateur and admitting he had too much fun, which cost him in the ninth round. “I was always told, ‘Never mix your work with having fun.’ And I always ignored that advice. But now it has come back to bite me. I still enjoyed it, though.”
Looking ahead to the rematch scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Fury is confident he will come out victorious. “I have watched the fight back many times and still believe I did enough to win. Usyk knows he didn’t beat me. It was close; one judge had me winning by a round, another had him winning by a round, and the final judge made the decision.”
Fury remains determined to settle the score with Usyk and reclaim his position in the heavyweight division.
