Valerie Bertinelli Reflects on the “Loud Absence” of Eddie Van Halen

Nearly five years after Eddie Van Halen’s passing, Valerie Bertinelli is opening up about the deep void left behind by her late ex-husband, describing it as a “loud absence” that still echoes through her life.

The actress and television personality took to Instagram with a heartfelt tribute, posting a vintage photo of the two together and writing: “Some days I really do miss you. There will always be a loud absence without you.”

A Bond That Never Faded

Though their marriage ended in 2007, Bertinelli emphasized that her connection with Eddie never disappeared—especially when it came to their son, Wolfgang. She admitted she often aches for the conversations only the two of them could share:

“Who do I yap to when there was really only one person I could talk to about Wolfie the way that we did?”

For Bertinelli, Eddie wasn’t just a world-famous guitar icon—he was also a father who shared an unshakable pride in Wolfgang, now carving his own path in music.

Proud of Wolfie

Valerie highlighted her son’s achievements, saying she knows Eddie would be “beaming” at Wolfgang’s talent and dedication. From Grammy nominations to sold-out tours with his band Mammoth WVH, Wolfgang has built a career worthy of his legendary surname.

Love, Loss, and Respect

In her reflection, Bertinelli also touched on Eddie’s relationship with her late mother, acknowledging it was complicated but grounded in respect and care. Despite personal struggles and the turbulent times in their marriage, she made it clear that Eddie’s legacy remains stitched into the fabric of her family.

A Legacy That Endures

Eddie Van Halen passed away in October 2020 at the age of 65, but Bertinelli’s words serve as a reminder that grief doesn’t fade—it transforms. For her, Eddie’s absence isn’t quiet; it’s a constant presence that speaks just as loudly as the music he left behind.
