WNBA All-Star Vote Results Resolve Caitlin Clark–Angel Reese Debate

The debate over which rookie is better, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark or Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, has been a hot topic during the 2024 WNBA season. Both players have started their WNBA careers with impressive performances, enough to earn spots in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game. However, the fan vote results for the All-Star game have provided a temporary resolution to this debate.

Caitlin Clark, a former Iowa Hawkeyes star, received a league-leading 700,735 All-Star votes. The next highest vote-getter was her Fever teammate, Aliyah Boston, with 618,680 votes. Angel Reese came in fifth with 381,518 votes. Clark’s vote tally nearly doubled that of Reese, establishing her as the top WNBA rookie for 2024.

Despite Clark’s higher vote count, Reese’s rookie season has been remarkable. She set a WNBA record with 11 consecutive double-doubles in a single season. The former LSU Tigers star has been a dominant presence on the court.

Clark has also made history during her rookie season. She became the fastest player to reach 300 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists at the start of a WNBA career.

The two rookies have faced each other three times this season, with Clark winning two of those matchups and Reese winning one. This head-to-head record further contributes to the ongoing debate between Clark and Reese.

In their game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on June 1, 2024, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese both showcased their talents, highlighting why they are considered two of the best rookies this season.
